Wargaming.net has been very successful over the last ten years. In 2010, the Belarusian publisher launched the widely acclaimed World of Tanks before following up with 2013’s World of Warplanes. Finally, it took to the seas with 2015’s World of Warships, a naval war simulator that will soon be receiving a brand new update, Legends.
Announced in the recent unveil trailer, World of Warships: Legends will be getting a new expansion on March 9. This update will add several cruisers, a new campaign, and new commanders to sail your ships.
World of Warships: Legends
In total, the new update will add seven warships of Russian and Soviet descent. All of the new ships focus on dealing damage via long-range flat-shooting guns, so keeping your distance will be important. However, the highest tier Russian ships feature torpedoes and radar to help deal with any pesky flankers looking to close the gap.
The new campaign, War and Peace, supports up to 95 levels of content. This includes various crates, boosters, camos, premium days and plenty more. If you’re willing to put the time in, there are tons of useful goodies that you can earn over the five weeks Legends will run. This new event will end on April 13.
Wargaming has also announced that it has “something entirely different,” planned for an upcoming April Fools’ event. Series fans should expect something substantial. In the past, Wargaming.net has added entire game modes such as World of Tank’s Mars Mode just for April Fools’. A year later, they once again celebrated April Fools’ by adding a complete battle royale mode.
World of Warships: Legends is a free-to-play MMO, so there’s no paywall stopping you from trying it out. If blowing up historic battleships sounds fun to you, then consider jumping aboard. Just be aware that its business model does encourage pay-to-progress, meaning those who spend real money will climb the ship tiers far faster.
